“The challenge of work-life balance is without question one of the most significant struggles facing us all.”
I love this quote, probably because it speaks to my inability to balance work and life. In all fairness, we do spend more time at work than at home, so is balance really the right measure? I digress and know what you’re probably thinking… right now, work and life are the same and balance is becoming impossible.
You’re right and could find yourself longing for the days when you could escape to the office, take a business trip or just drop the kids off at school. I completely understand and speaking for my wife here… feel the same way.
We’re all in uncharted territory, and now more than ever… balance has become much more important. We’ve talked in other blogs about how CBD can bring a sense of calm, relieve your aches and pain and help you sleep better. But how does it do that?
That’s where balance comes in and how CBD works with your body’s Endocannabinoid System or ECS for short. Long before CBD was being Googled more than Kayne West, your body’s been using cannabinoids it produces naturally to keep you in balance or homeostasis.
The ECS was first discovered in the early 1990s with the discovery of CB1 and CB2 receptors located throughout the human body:
- CB1 receptors, which are mostly found in the central nervous system
- CB2 receptors, which are mostly found in your peripheral nervous system, especially immune cells
The ECS performs multiple tasks, but the goal is always to maintain a stable environment despite fluctuations in the external environment. Experts are still trying to fully understand the ECS. But so far, we know it plays role in regulating a range of functions and processes, including:
- Appetite and digestion
- Chronic pain
- Inflammation and other immune system responses
- Learning and memory
- Motor control
- Cardiovascular system function
- Muscle formation
- Bone remodeling and growth
- Liver function
- Reproductive system function
- Skin and nerve function
The primary role of the ECS is to create homeostasis within the body. When an imbalance is detected within our internal environment, the body synthesizes endocannabinoids that interact with CB1/CB2 Receptors. This stimulates a chemical response that works to return the physiological process back to homeostasis.
The phytocannabinoids contained in Hemp Based CBD can be used to supplement and support your ECS and help your body relieve a multitude of illnesses and conditions.
Bottom line, the challenges for balance being created by our new reality are not going away anytime soon. If you’re looking to help your body get back to center… starting a CBD regimen is an excellent option.
